Signed picture of Willie Fernie the Celtic footballer. SORRY SOLD!

Willie Fernie. This is an absolutely fabulous A4 size colour portrait picture of Willie Fernie the Celtic footballer. This terrific item is taken from a Charles Buchan football magazine of the time and has been clearly signed by Willie Fernie in fine black ink. He was part of Celtic's 1953–54 Double-winning team and also collected two League Cup winners medals, in 1956 and 1957. In the 1957 Scottish League Cup Final, Fernie played in the deeper position of right half, influencing the play and scoring the last Celtic goal as they defeated rivals Rangers 7–1. Willie Fernie made over 200 league appearances for Celtic and scored over 50 goals in his two spells with the club in 1948 to 1958 and 1960 to 1961. Fernie went into management and as a part-time team, Kilmarnock struggled in the top flight and were unsurprisingly relegated in 1977. After a bad start to the following season, Fernie was sacked in October 1977 and was never again employed in football. Disillusioned with football, he subsequently worked as a taxi driver. Willie Fernie died in 2011, aged 82, after suffering from Alzheimer's disease. This is a wonderful piece of Celtic football club memorabilia.
