Signed picture of Tony Kay the Sheffield Wednesday footballer.

Signed picture of Tony Kay the Sheffield Wednesday footballer.

Tony Kay. This is a very nice postcard size item with a smaller black and white portrait picture of Tony Kay the Sheffield Wednesday footballer. This picture is taken from a Charles Buchan football magazine of the time and has been personally signed in red ink. Kay became notorious after being banned from the professional game for life following the British betting scandal of 1964. He became Britain's most expensive footballer when transferred to Everton from Wednesday for £60,000 in 1962. Tony Kay played 179 league games for Sheffield Wednesday between 1954 and 1962. Kay was capped once for England, scoring on his debut against Switzerland which England won 8-1. Great piece of football memorabilia.
