Signed portrait of Bill Baxter the Ipswich Town footballer.

Signed portrait of Bill Baxter the Ipswich Town footballer.
Bill Baxter. This is a near A4 size black and white portrait of Bill Baxter the Ipswich Town footballer. This rare signed picture is taken from a football magazine of the time (GOAL?) and has a typical Baxter signature on his forehead in red ink. The picture has a really good example of a Bill Baxter autograph although the picture has a crease just above his chin and the left top corner has been cut off, .but in no way does it affect the quality of the item. Baxter was a regular in the Ipswich team than won the old Division 2 Championship in 1960-61 and Division 1 Championship in 1961-62. He later captained the team to the old Division 2 Championship in 1967-68. In total, Baxter played 459 games for Ipswich during an 11-year stay at Portman Road. In his later years, Baxter battled cancer. He had a leg amputated sometime before his death, and succumbed to the disease at a Dunfermline hospital on 25 May 2009, aged 70 £8.00
